The annual Commonwealth Contest (CC) takes place very soon from 1000z Satu rday, March 14 to 0959z Sunday March 15. This 24-hour CW-only contest ta
kes place on the five HF contest bands (80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres
).

This contest has been around since 1931. Once known as the "BERU," the C
C involves Amateurs in the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nati
ons and their associated territories only. This gives us an exclusive shot
at some very interesting DX.

The contest is now a partnership of the International Amateur Radio Union
’s (IARU) member societies for Canada (Radio Amateurs of Canada
– RAC), Australia (Wireless Institute of Australia – WI
A), India (Amateur Radio Society of India – ARSI), New Zealand
(New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters – NZART) and the U
nited Kingdom (Radio Society of Great Britain – RSGB).

"HQ" stations have a special status in this contest and the RAC HQ station
VE3RHQ will once again be operated by Mike Kelly, VE3FFK. Other RAC cal
l signs will be activated across Canada.

There will also be HQ stations from many parts of the Commonwealth, with
several in each of the United Kingdom and Australia.

Le Concours du Commonwealth (CC) annuel aura lieu très bientôt
, de 10 h 00 UTC le samedi 14 mars à 9 h 59 UTC le dimanche 15 mars
. D’une durée de 24 heures, ce concours réservé a
ux communications en code Morse se déroule sur les cinq bandes utilis
ées pour les compétitions (80, 40, 20, 15 et 10 mètre
s).

Ce concours existe depuis 1931. Autrefois connu sous le nom de « BERU
», le CC est uniquement réservé aux radioamateurs des 56
pays membres du Commonwealth des Nations et des territoires associés
. Cela nous offre une excellente occasion de contacter certaines stations
DX très intéressantes.

Le concours est désormais un partenariat entre les sociétés
membres de l’IARU pour le Canada (RAC), l’Australie (WI
A), l’Inde (ARSI), la Nouvelle-Zélande (NZART), et le R
oyaume-Uni (RSGB).

Les stations « HQ » ont un statut particulier dans ce concours.
La station HQ de RAC, VE3RHQ, sera à nouveau mise en ondes par M
ike Kelly, VE3FFK. D’autres indicatifs d’appel de RAC se
ront également activés partout au Canada.

Il y aura également des stations « HQ » dans de nombreuses
régions du Commonwealth, notamment au Royaume-Uni et en Australie
, plusieurs d’entre elles étant exploitées dans chacun
de ces pays.
